The
canteen of the former sanatorium «The Urals Machine Builder»
(nowadays boarding school) has also functioned as a club.
There was a dancing square opposite the present-time railway
station. There was a brass band there. In March, 1946, the
Red Army amateur talent activities were organized. A shed
was made just in the street and there «the artists»
performed. The movies in military unit were shown outdoors.
They waited for the darkness and stretched a sheet on the
wall. There was a library, a medical unit, a canteen and a
club in barracks. In 1952 the building of a club was constructed
on the territory of the military unit. But
especially the amateur talent activities were developed in
a reformatory, because in the colony the real artists served
time, whose talents allowed to stage such operettas as «Silva»,
«Raskinulos More Shiroko»(«The Sea Has Stretched
Wide») and others. A good brass band performed not only
on holidays, but on guard mounting as well. When the amateur
talent activities gave fee paying concerts for the town in
the Club of Building, it was overcrowded. The artists were
encored. In front of the curtain, on a stage the soldiers
with sub-machine-guns were sitting.
In 1949 the plant No 813 started to work and our towns and
its professional cultural establishments development began.
The Culture department attached to the trade union committee
No 9 of the plant was created. The club «Stroitel»
(«The Builder») became the first cultural institution
in 1949. It
was situated in the railway-station district for the military
builders. Barchukov V. K. was appointed as the director of
the club. In that year the library was opened, it was situated
in Lenin Street. Besides that the Junior Technical Station,
the stadium «Stroitel», the Water Station were opened.
In 1949 the cinema «Rodina»(«Motherland»)
started its work. Then the Musical School was created. Nowadays
its name is the Childrens Arts School. In 1951 the Theatre
was opened in our town.
In March, 1954, Novouralsk officially got the status of the
town and in June the Culture department was handed over to
the authority of the Town Soviet. In November, 1955, the Culture
House of the UECP (the Urals Electro-Chemical Plant) was opened.
In 1957 the Puppet-show started its work. In 1961 one more
library appeared the Library of UPC-123 (the United Plant
Committee). In 1968 the House of Young Pioneers and Schoolchildren
was built. Soon the second cinema «Neiva» was opened.
In 1973 the new building of «Stroitel»-club was
built. In 1975 the Museum of Regional Studies was opened in
our town. In 1979 the Childrens Art School admitted new students.
In 1988 the Park of Attractions started its work. In 1992
a new building of the Central Town Library was opened for
our citizens. At last in March, 1998, the Concert-Sport Complex
(óSC) began working.
